Cork

Cork flooring comes from the bark of the tree only, not damaging the tree itself. Cork trees are found primarily in Spain, Portugal and Tunisia and can live up to 800 years! The bark is harvested by hand every nine years and then grows back with no harm to the tree itself. During this process, little or no waste will be found during the manufacturing of this material.

Surprisingly, cork flooring does not resemble the bulletin board material at all. This is because it is processed from tiny cork pieces and the manufactures can achieve an amazing array of patterns and textures. The color variation allows for you to be creative in terms of layout and design. Adding speckled patterns that vary from tile to tile adds character to your space. During the manufacturing process, cork is baked in ovens- the longer it bakes the darker it becomes. http://www.naturalinteriorsinc.com

Bamboo

Because it is a natural, renewable resource, bamboo flooring is considered by many experts and homeowners to be the logical flooring choice of the future.

Bamboo is technically a grass, not a wood product, and it can be harvested every 5 years. As a result, no forests are destroyed to make bamboo floors, and homeowners can count on a reliable supply of products. Bamboo will be by far the easiest to care for that you have ever walked on. Simply sweep or vacuum as needed and only occasionally damp mop when necessary.
